Apple Health is a ledger. It is not a diet app. It can store steps, workouts, and an estimate of energy out. It cannot tell you that lunch was 640 calories and dinner still has to fit. People who "just watch Active Calories" eat back noisy estimates and stall. Option 1 is Khatwa. Photograph meals. Connect Apple Health or Health Connect for steps. The coach still starts from the plate, not the ring.
What the rings are good for
Move rings reward consistency of movement. That is useful. It is not a permission slip to eat the ring. Watch calorie burn is an estimate. It moves with cadence, hills, and whether you wore the watch. Eating it back 1:1 is how a 400-calorie walk becomes a 600-calorie snack.
Use steps as a floor, not as a refund. A daily walk is still one of the most repeatable fat-loss tools. Pair it with a food log. We go deeper on walking in walking 10,000 steps for weight loss.
How Khatwa uses Apple Health and Health Connect
Khatwa can take steps and calories burned from Apple Health on iPhone, or Health Connect on Android, so the day is not food-only. The coach still starts from the meals you logged. The training program is still guided, home or gym. The wearable fills in movement. It does not replace the plate.
A simple rule that avoids the eat-back trap
Set the food target from maintenance minus 300-500. Let extra steps be a bonus, not extra dessert. If a long hike is genuinely huge, you can add a planned snack. Do not add a snack every time the ring closes. For the food target itself, use how many calories to eat to lose weight.
Keep the watch. Add the plate.
Connect Apple Health or Health Connect in Khatwa, photograph meals, ask the coach what is left. Free on iOS and Android.
